Blaaaaa!!

A few tunes I am enjoying at the moment:

Karenn is the highly anticipated collaboration between Blawan and Pariah which I can not get enough of! They have also set up a label called Works the Long Nights. I will write more on this at a later date:

A snowman matey in central London:

I have only been back a short while and already I have been re-introduced to the unpredictable weather England is renowned for. Only two weeks ago I was traipsing around in thick carpets of bright white snow and wearing every warm layer of clothing I could find then fast forward to today and I am walking around the high street in jeans, t-shirt and a hoody. I am hoping that by next week the temperature with be well into the 20's and 30's - Well a girl can dream can't she?

Anyway lets not dwell on climate change for a moment longer! This week I would like to introduce you to Darling Farah. Darling Farah or Kamau Baaqi as his mother would refer to him as was born in Detroit but relocated to the United Arab Emirates where live music was not just frown upon but literally banned. Growing up, as is often the case, most of his peers at school were engrossed in the usual commercial Hip hop, however Baaqi praised MF Doom for his experimentation's between Rap and electronic music, though it was still a long way away off from the Minimal Techno sound Darling Farah was to embrace.

Though signed to the Civil Music label who represent a considerable catalog of distinguished producers already (Debruit, Starkey and Reso, to name but a few) the moment has now come for Darling Farah to create a steady amount of ripples within the electronic music pool. Baaqi confesses in an interview with RA to wanting a more "lasting" and "mature" sound and alas this is what is achieved with his latest EP "Division". His older releases which include; "Watching" boasts a heavy, Proxy-esque bassline and "Berline" emits prominent pop undertones. Both are prime examples of Baaqi's musical talents however it is with his current sound which can also be heard in his stunning remix of Starkey's "Lost in Space" featuring Charli XCX (I featured this tune in my last post) that are sure to tie Darling Farah firmly, not only with in ones to watch for 2012 but as an important musical figure for the future. You heard it here first!

Other random musings: Omelets! I literally can't stop eating them, Jean-Paul Sartre's "Existentialism is a Humanism" - I get it but then again I don't get it, New Girl - As much as I condemn most American sitcoms this one is actually pretty good, and lastly, I might be getting slightly addicted to 9GAG at the moment hmmm.
